Interior | IKEA PS 2014 Collection

As IKEA just launched her new PS collection I did already find out what my favorites are. Although the ‘living in the moment’ part of the ‘raison d’être’ of the collection makes me feel a bit allergic -this sentence seems to be anywhere at anytime these days- I like the collection very much because it is aimed at small living spaces...

Since I am a student, living in a small room, in a small student house, this might be the first PS collection of which I can purchase one of the ‘bigger’ pieces.

Among the collection of well designed, practical furniture made out of nice materials I like the wall shelf of Japanese designer Keiji Ashizawa (who also designed the cute corner closet) the most. The birch version will do perfect in my room for organizing my bags, scarfs and magazines that normally are lying around everywhere.

In case my room appears to have too few space for the wall shelf I will go for the hat and coat stand designed by Ebba Strandmark. Of course the version made out of birch.

Furthermore I like the designs of Tomás Alonso very much because of their simplicity and the combination of powder coated steel and bamboo.

The first of April, most of the products will be available in the IKEA stores.

Food | Smoothening a Green Smoothie

When I feel a bit low in energy I often try to include some vegetables (like kale or spinach) in a smoothie. I never ever make my smoothies following a recipe, but always experiment with ingredients that I just have or are left over. Anyhow, it always tastes good :).

Two key ingredients make it do so; some oranges and a ripe banana. As long as these two are in your blender, your smoothie will be fine!

Fashion | Minimalistic Ear Candy

When in Stockholm....

In front of the COS store I came across a little jewelry store of the very nice brand Line and Jo (www.lineandjo.com). I saw these earrings I absolutely want. Their minimalistic, subtle appearance and the possibility to string them through more earholes (I have four, yay!) made me fall in love instantly.

For the Dutchies: a super interesting documentary by Sara Domogala about the current trends in feminine fashion in respect to the lifestyle of young, ambitious, multi-tasking women. Interesting, believable story. Beautiful fashion, powerful women and nice shots. Watch this!

Food | Warming carrot soup

As the leaves are falling down, rain is pouring all the time and temperature has dropped significantly my body screams for warm food. Last year I discovered how easy it is to make thick, healthy vegetable soups myself. This carrot soup only has four ingredients and will take about half an hour to prepare. 

2 cm ginger (chopped)

1 onion (chopped)

1 cube of vegetable stock

400 g carrots (coursely chopped)

Fry the onion among with some olive oil. After two minutes add the ginger and the carrots. After frying it for some minutes add the stock cube and enough water to boil the carrots in. Now let it boil for at least 20 minutes. As soon as the carrots get soft they can be blended. Add water to adjust the soup's thickness if you like. 

After you poured the soup in some bowls it is ready to be enjoyed. This warm autumn soup can nicely be combined with toasted spelt bread and some soft goat cheese...

Fashion | New in: heeled ankle boots

My first real post is about the (at this moment) most perfect ankle boots I could found for my budget. I completely fell for their simplistic and nicely finished appearance. Decent and sturdy at the same time. The perfect heel shape and height for daily use. Their sides remind me a bit of the chelsea boots you see a lot in the streets these days. These boots, I bought them at Cinderella, are made of smooth, soft, matte looking leather. In my view they have a timeless appearance and therefore are a nice addition to my shoe wardrobe.
